Family inaugurates HID Awolowo Foundation

One year today after the death of the matriarch of the Awolowo family, Chief HID Awolowo, the family has inaugurated a foundation in her name, HID Awolowo Foundation.

The foundation was inaugurated Monday afternoon inside the Efunyela Hall of the Ikenne country home of the Awolowos.

The chairperson of the foundation’s advisory council is Senator Daisy Danjuma, who will be supported by 16 other persons that include wives of the former governors of Ekiti and Ogun states, Erelu Bisi Fayemi and Yeye Olufunke Daniel.

The foundation, among others, seeks to imbue in women qualities of leadership and doggedness, as demonstrated by the matriarch; and to advocate for the empowerment of women in all spheres of life.
